This is a very important question, extremely relevant for both professional auto detailers trying to figure out the cost of raw materials, and for at-home enthusiasts trying to understand how many bottles they need to buy for their car/bike.
Ceramic coating is no doubt one of the best paint protection products available on the market. It provides protection to the paint and adds to the aesthetics of the vehicle. One of the most popular (and important) question people have is: how many cars can I cover in one ceramic bottle? Or 30ml is good for how many cars? But instead of this, the question should be: How many square feet does 1ml of ceramic coating cover? Why ask the question in this manner?
Simply because each car has a different size and consumption of the coating will increase for a larger car. Before we go ahead, if you want to understand How to Apply Ceramic Coating, you may wish to go through this blog
Let’s understand this FAQ a little more in-depth.
The most popular size for the base coat in the world is 30ml. Most manufacturers have introduced a base coat in a 30 ml bottle with a clear understanding that one bottle should be enough for one car.
The size of the car or the sq/ft of the car has to be covered in the coating. And not how many cars we can coat with one bottle. The question should be how many sq/ft can be applied in one ceramic bottle of 30 ml, instead of how many cars can we coat in one bottle
The spread of the coating might vary from brand to brand. However, most good brands with high-quality coatings will have a similar spread.
But when it comes to extremely cheap coatings, you require more products to cover the same area. So, what might look cheap on the face might not be cheap after all.
So, what’s the spread of Detailmax Ceramic Coatings? Approximate Car Sizes:
Hatchback is around 150-175 sq/ft
The sedan is around 200-250 sq/ft.
SUV is around 250-300 sq ft.
For Detailmax Ceramic Coatings, the spread is 1 ml = 10 sq/ft.
In general, with one ceramic bottle, we can apply two layers to one car. Or one-one layer on two different cars and not more than that, as you have to consider the thickness of the layers for prone results. Otherwise, if you apply a thin layer, you can also apply four layers from one bottle. But then again, that will impact the thickness and the output.
